Edermünde citizen climate assembly on climate adaptation

The assembly addresses how Edermünde should plan its land use in the context of climate change and climate impact adaptation. Key guiding dilemmas include:

• Adaptation to climate impacts:
  How should Edermünde respond to climate-related challenges like heavy rainfall and long heat periods?

• Land use priorities:
  What is the ideal balance between: (re)naturalization (e.g., for biodiversity), agricultural use and soil sealing (e.g., for housing or business development)?

• Residential planning:
  How should future residential areas be developed? Where should new buildings go? What principles should guide densification and infill development?

Citizen Science Activity

Purpose: provide first-hand learning experiences and connect theory (from the assembly) with practical challenges in the field

Participation: voluntary and self-organized

• A nearby village affected by heavy rains and floodings (16.11.24, 3 participants)
